Camera 1 is our first course in a series of three. Camera 2 is an intermediate scene study course, and Camera 3 is advanced scene study. Discounted prices on 5-week courses are available to students who continue training at our studio.
Camera 1 is our foundations course, which offers a well rounded curriculum, giving students comfort and confidence in front of the camera, and setting them up for success in multiple venues (film, TV, commercial).
During the course, we will also look at the business of the acting business, covering things like: local talent agents (and how to submit for representation, if desired), actor headshots, resumes, casting directors, where to find auditions, and more. This is a great course for students new to acting in general, those new to on-camera acting specifically, and actors who have some experience, but are looking to take their craft deeper.
Cameras are used in every class, and students receive access to all footage filmed.* *Please bring a 8GB Class 10 SDHC flash memory card to class. We will also have them for sale for $10.
What the Course Covers:
Intro to Scene Study.
Monologue for Camera.
How to Find Opportunities in Seattle.
The Business of the Acting Business.
“I’d been working in Seattle for the past four years with some success in both theater and film, but I knew that there was more to learn that I just wasn’t getting “on the job.” Mighty Tripod’s class came recommended by Jodi Rothfield, so knew it would be a good place to start. I went in thinking I needed to brush up on my camera technique; where to look, how to stay in frame, how to play to the camera, etc. What I got was that and more: I’ve deepened my approach to acting, both for the camera and for the stage. I’ve got a new set of tools I can use to prepare more fully for auditions and roles. And, most importantly, I’ve got a new sense of confidence that’s been making a big difference in real-world casting and on-set situations. I got so much out of the first class that I went on to take the next in the series, and I plan to continue with Mighty Tripod’s ongoing classes and workshops.” – Marty Krouse

YOUR INSTRUCTORS [David S. Hogan & Angela DiMarco]
Angela was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. She started in professional Theatre as a child and fell in love with performing. She was cast in her first feature film, Waiting for the Light (starring Shirley MacLaine) when she was 10 years old. She then went on to study Commedia Dell’Arte, improv, and soon started teaching others. Since then, she has become a full-time teaching and performing artist in Los Angeles and the NW. Angela not only has a passion for performing but also for working with children. Having been a child actor, Angela enjoys helping guide young artists on their creative journey. She has taught and volunteered at out-reach programs for at-risk teens. When she is not teaching or on screen, Angela performs with the Seattle Repertory, Village Theatre, Intiman, Seattle Public Theater and more. She is humbled to be a consecutive three time Gregory Award nominee. Credits Include: the feature films The Parish, Hollywood Kills, Switchmas, The Device, By Gods Grace, Brides To Be, and Paralytic
The Industry is always changing, so it’s only natural that the market changes along with it. We teach students how to stay informed and current in the NW. Seattle is a smaller market, but NW actors are still competing with LA actors. At Mighty Tripod Acting Studio, David and Angela stay connected to current Industry trends, and have built relationships with all of the area’s casting directors and talent agents. We are also producers and working actors, so we can share the wisdom gleaned from our experiences as we travel along the Actor’s Path.
We look forward to working with you!
