Scene Work & Continuity Filmmaking

Building on lessons learned in our previous courses, Camera 4 will teach you more about breaking down scripts, listening, and character work. What makes this course different will be the on-set simulation part and focus on performance continuity.

For week 1, students will bring a two page scene, fully prepared for a callback audition. During the class, we will work this scene, tape this scene, and coach each student to reinforce on-camera audition techniques and polish up and blind spots. This “essence” scene that each student brings in should feature a “front pocket” character, which means it’s a role that you feel is very appropriate for your strengths and talents.

On-set simulation and filmed scene work occurs during week 3 and week 5, and clips are made available for review, reflection, and continued learning. Actors will get to work in wide shots and close up framing. We will teach you how to prep for your day on set in front of the camera, and provide you with industry tips so you are comfortable and confident when working on any film set. Class clips are not intended for actor demo reels.
