Mighty Tripod Acting Studio Welcomes Steve Braun

I have long known about BGB Studio, and became more acquainted with its founders, Risa Bramon Gracia and Steve Braun through their podcast – The Acting Podcast – during the COVID shutdown. I was inspired by what I heard, and immediately recognized the passion behind the hosts, who also run BGB Studio, a highly regarded actor training center in Los Angeles and beyond. BGB Studio is the kind of place where I would hope to continue my journey as an actor/student, and I know you will be in good hands when Steve joins us at the end of this month.

Steve and I briefly connected in 2020, and while putting something together took some time, I am very excited to offer his workshop to you, so you can continue to develop and deepen your acting craft.

This workshop is built for actors age 18+. All levels are welcome, but most this workshop is most appropriate for actors with some training and experience.

The Audition Revolution, Part 1

The intense desire to book the job, to get it right, to be who you think Casting Directors need you to be, can put you in your head. It can make you look for the math in the scene, overplan and try to control. But it’s art. Your value to the project is your art. You stand out when you move them on an emotional level, when you make them feel by allowing yourself to emotionally experience the scene in real time.

The epic struggle of the actor is to offer presence, connection and the fluidity of the human experience within the tight structure of the audition process. It’s not easy to shut off your head and bring the full force of your talent to the audition. But it’s possible.

The Audition Revolution Part 1, takes you all the way back to the core of your artistry, to the power of your talent and everything that is unique about you.

Through his own version of the Meisner Repetition Exercise (influenced more by Buddhist philosophy than an acting technique), emotional accessibility, cold read scenes and improvisation, Steve Braun offers the first step in revolutionizing your audition work.

Steve Braun

Steve Braun is an acting coach, meditation and martial arts instructor, psychedelic-assisted therapist and communication consultant, drawing on acting techniques, Buddhist and Daost practice, and martial arts training to help his clients discover and express their unique emotional truth. He has trained in acting, meditation and martial arts for 30 years, a journey that has taken him from the ego-driven external pursuit of being rich, famous and tough, to the internal pursuit of eliminating Self through Meditation, Qi Gong and art.

While pursuing an acting career Steve starred in movies such as HAROLD AND KUMAR GO TO WHITE CASTLE, WRONG TURN 2 and THE TRIP and was a series regular on THE IMMORTAL and TWINS. He guest starred on CSI: MIAMI, CSI: NY, BONES, GILMORE GIRLS, THE CLOSER, NCIS, and THE MENTALIST, among others.

His coaching and teaching clients include Oscar, Emmy, Grammy and SAG-AFTRA award winners. His clients include lead and recurring actors from BLUEY, PALM ROYALE, THE RESIDENT, SNOWFALL, COBRA KAI, WHEN THEY SEE US, WESTWORLD, VAMPIRE DIARIES, BIG SKY, MR.
