SUMMARY:Nike Imoru\, CSA\, Casting Director Seminar (ONE DAY ONLY!)
DESCRIPTION:This event is a collaboration between Mighty Tripod Productions and Nike Imoru Casting. \nAppropriate for ages 13 and up. \nEVENT DETAILS \n\nLearn what to expect when auditioning for a casting director.\nLearn how auditioning for television is a completely different animal.\nAsk questions\, and get answers about the things that are relevant to your audition process.\nMonday\, June 30\, 6:30pm at Buster’s Event Room at ACT Theatre.\nModerated by Angela DiMarco\n\nJoin us as we host Nike Imoru\, CSA\, in this amazing seminar and learn about the casting process for film and television from one of the pacific northwest’s busiest casting directors. She is currently the casting director for the SyFy Channel’s new episodic television series\, Z Nation\, which is being filmed in Spokane\, WA. The quote below is from her website. Please visit her site to learn more about this outstanding casting director\, actor\, and coach. \nMs. Imoru is a British casting director\, acting coach\, actress and director with an array of credits in the entertainment industry covering twenty five years and twenty one countries. For the last decade Nike has worked in the Northwest casting commercials\, industrial videos\, documentaries\, theatre and\, in the last six years\, twenty full-length feature films. She has worked alongside a plethora of actors and directors including Wayne Wang\, John Carpenter\, Tony Krantz\, Samuel Jackson\, Ray Liotta\, Wei Tang\, Antonio Banderas\, Amber Heard\, Jimmy Simpson\, Vera Farmiga\, and Tom Skerrit. \nDuring this event\, Ms. Imoru will take you through the casting process\, especially as it relates to local film and television casting\, debunking mythologies and giving actors what they need to succeed in this market. \nA new television series in our state\, a growing population\, and a legislature willing to invest in local film\, thanks in part to the work of Washington Filmworks and the vocal support of local industry leaders\, means that now\, more than ever\, is a great time to be an actor in this region. Check out the quote below from the Backstage blog post\, “Is Seattle Really the ‘Actors’ Paradise:” \nLikewise\, the deep pool of acting talent also provides filmmakers with plenty of choices. “There were a number of smaller but really key roles that I and my producers kind of assumed we’d have to fly people in from New York or L.A. for\,” Shelton says of casting “Laggies.” “But I remember this one day\, six out of eight supporting roles I was so sure we’d have to go out of town for\, people came in and just nailed these parts. I was floored. Just amazing\, amazing talent. So great\, so funny. Everything I needed them to be.”We know a lot of great actors in Seattle\, and we teach a lot of great students\, too. \nBut\, there is more for us to learn about the casting process\, especially when it comes to TV casting. Since the arrival of Z Nation\, Ms. Imoru has been in the trenches with the production team – learning\, growing\, coaching\, casting\, watching –  giving her a wealth of priceless knowledge to share with you. \nJoin us for this one of a kind evening. \nTicketing will not be available at the ACT Theatre box office. Please purchase your ticket below.

SUMMARY:Camera 1: Foundations
DESCRIPTION:Camera 1 is our foundational course for adult (18 years and up) actors. This course meets on Wednesday nights. Camera 1 offers an extremely well rounded curriculum\, which will give students comfort and confidence in front of the camera\, setting them up for success in any venue (film\, TV\, commercial\, etc.). We also look into the business of the business\, covering things like agents\, headshots\, resumes\, casting directors\, and more. This is a great course for students new to acting in general\, new to on-camera acting\, or those who have a bit of experience but are looking to take their craft deeper. Cameras are used in class\, and students receive access to all footage filmed. \nThis session begins on Wednesday June 4\, 2014. Book your spot at the bottom of this page. \n[divider_line type=”divider_line”] \nWhat the course teaches: \n\nScene Study\nMonologues for the Camera\nAudition Technique\nCommercial Acting Techniques\nPerformance for the Camera\nHow to Get Work in Seattle\n\n[divider_line type=”divider_line”] \n“I’d been working in Seattle for the past four years with some success in both theater and film\, but I knew that there was more to learn that I just wasn’t getting “on the job.” David and Tony’s class came recommended by Jodi Rothfield\, so knew it would be a good place to start. I went in thinking I needed to brush up on my camera technique; where to look\, how to stay in frame\, how to play to the camera\, etc. What I got was that and more: I’ve deepened my approach to acting\, both for the camera and for the stage. I’ve got a new set of tools I can use to prepare more fully for auditions and roles. And\, most importantly\, I’ve got a new sense of confidence that’s been making a big difference in real-world casting and on-set situations. I got so much out of the first class that I went on to take the next in the series\, and I plan to continue with Mighty Tripod’s ongoing classes and workshops.” – Marty Krouse \n[divider_line type=”divider_line”] \nThis dynamic\, 5 week course is for actors who are: \n\nNew to the world of acting.\nExperienced in stage acting\, but new to on-camera acting.\nLooking for new tools to add to their craft.\nReady to learn more about how to get ahead in the Seattle industry.\nLooking to book more auditions.\nNeeding confidence in their work.\n\n[divider_line type=”divider_line”] \nOur class is taught by David S. Hogan and Tony Doupe’\, with assistance from Angela DiMarco. \n\n \n \n \n \n David S. He is a passionate advocate for the northwest actor\, and his dedication to the craft and elevation of the Seattle film actor is unparalleled.[/content_box] \n[divider_line type=”divider_line”] \nAngela was cast in her first feature film\, Waiting For The Light (starring Shirley MacLaine and Teri Garr)\, when she was 10 years old. SUMMARY:Camera 3: Advanced
DESCRIPTION:Camera 3: Advanced Acting for the Camera is a serious course for serious actors. It’s kind of like P90X for acting – it’s designed to kick your butt a little\, and leave you feeling really awesome afterwards. This course is designed to build toward mastery of the craft. In the course we work on scene study\, emotional preparation\, dynamic expression\, and continuity. We will work on scenes from film and television (and perhaps some original material)\, and all scenes will be recorded. At least one scene will be edited together and viewed/critiqued in class. Final scenes can emphasize image\, audio\, and acting\, and will be high enough quality to use as a demo (reel) clip (extra fee for this service – see below). \nPrerequisite: Camera 2 or instructor approval. Interested parties who have not taken Camera 2 will be invited into this course if they have extensive training or experience. \nRegister today at the bottom of this page. \nRough Course Outline: \n\nCourse introductions. Audition coaching and simulation. Students bring in a scene from TV/film.\nFirst scenes are filmed. Students bring in a second scene from TV/film.\nSecond scenes are rehearsed\, students are challenged to go deeper. Second scenes are filmed. Students bring in a third from TV/film.\nSecond scenes are screened and reviewed in class. Third scenes are rehearsed\, students are challenged to go deeper.\nThird scenes are filmed\, with the intention of creating a clip for your reel.\n\nDue to popular demand\, we have built Camera 3 to nurture our students who are working actors\, and further develop our students who are on a pathway for success. In this course\, students will be challenged. Expectations will be high. And breakthroughs will be par for the course. Seattle is becoming more of an industry town\, and the northwest region as a whole offers a lot of great opportunities for actors\, but if the actor does not know how to audition effectively\, and still has room to improve when working on set (and\, honestly\, who doesn’t?)\, then she will not be hired as often as she possibly could. \nThis course is not only designed to get you a piece of footage for your reel\, Camera 3 is a course that working and advanced actors should look to take as often as possible. The course will feel like a gym for the actor – the more effort you put in\, the more results you will get out. We hope to see our students return again and again for this course because we believe that actor training never ends\, and when an actor is not out there working\, then she should be training and staying sharp for that next opportunity. When big opportunities arise\, the actor must meet the challenge. Mighty Tripod Productions can help you face those opportunities with confidence\, conviction\, and craft. \nDavid has been acting professionally in Seattle since 2000\, and his work in theater is critically acclaimed (David is a three time winner of the Seattle Times Footlight Award for Stellar Acting – 2002\, 2009\, and 2012. He also received the 2012 Gypsy Rose Lee Award). His work in front of the camera began in earnest in 2010\, and since then he has worked frequently in the medium. I truly believe that focusing more on scene study in this class has helped me to reach a new level of authenticity on film. It was a great blend of receiving acting and technical feedback. The great thing about the teachers is that students get very honest feedback that helps them improve a lot faster. They are also readily available for all questions in and outside of class and are incredibly helpful in providing advice about the industry. I very much appreciated my time in the class and feel that I have improved and learned a great deal. It is most definitely time well spent training in Camera 2.\n~ Rebecca Kim \n[divider_line type=”divider_line”] \n“Working with David and Tony in the Camera 2 class has been instrumental in re-framing how I approach my scene work and character development. They offered challenging alternate choices for given situations that gave me the freedom to continue to discover nuances and build higher stakes throughout the filming process\, take after take after take… I feel that I have left this class with more valuable tools than I anticipated and I’m eager to put them to use in my work moving forward. Also to work with these two again! Incredibly talented actors and directors with a solid eye for refining their students’ trouble spots.”\n~ Andi Norris \n[divider_line type=”divider_line”] \nThis dynamic\, 5 week course is for actors who: \n\nHave taken Camera 1.\nWho have some professional on-camera experience or professional training.\nWant to go deeper in their work.\nWant to learn how to be compelling in front of the camera.\nAre feeling stuck in their craft.\nNeed a confidence boost.\n\nOur class is taught by David S. SUMMARY:Character Workshop (ages 8 - 18)
DESCRIPTION:If we don’t know our Character\, how can we do a good audition? \nIf we haven’t “lived” in the shoes of our character before\, how will we walk them onto a film set? \nThis workshop will help young actors remember WE are the character\, and that WE need to put ourselves in their shoes. The actor must explore the given circumstances and feel free to LIVE within every moment. \n\n\n\nAngela DiMarco\, Instructor\n\n\nCOST:\n$175 (10% discount for returning students). Email Angela for the code if you are previous student.\nBook your spot below. \nDETAILS:\n•Original scenes will be written and sent to the actors a week before class for memorization. \n•Actors will work in pairs\, but will be working with multiple partners. This will help actors learn to work with different scene partners but on the same scene. \n•We will focus on Character study\, building the character and being “in the moment”. \n•We will also do Character improv\, where the actors do improvisation while in Character. \n*This workshop will not be filmed for footage. It is for the Actor to experience within the classroom\, about exploring character and not a finished product.
