Brave choices. Truthful acting. \n \n \n \n Ideal for: Working and audition-focused actorsLevel: Intermediate to AdvancedAges: Adults; mature 16-17 year olds consideredAssignment: There is work to prep for week 1. \n \n \n \n Act Without Fear is an 8-week class for serious\, audition-focused actors who want to deepen their craft\, sharpen their script analysis\, and make braver\, more truthful choices in their work. Designed for intermediate to advanced actors\, this class helps performers move through self-consciousness and fear by grounding them in strong text work\, clear playable actions\, and a deeper connection to behavior\, relationship\, and truth. Class work will include monologues\, partner work\, script analysis\, and exercises designed to challenge old habits and open new possibilities. This is a class for actors who want to go deeper — not just to perform well\, but to work more honestly\, specifically\, and courageously. The work will be challenging\, but the room will be supportive. Exercises are always voluntary\, actors are met where they are\, and guidance is tailored to the individual. The goal is to help actors build courage\, strengthen technique\, and develop the freedom to do more alive and compelling work in auditions\, rehearsal\, and performance. \n \n \n \n More Info \n \n \n \n deep script analysismonologues and partner worklistening and behavioral truthrisk\, vulnerability\, and specificityaudition applicationbreaking self-conscious habitsmaking clearer\, braver choices \n \n \n \n Outline & Expectations \n \n \n \n What to ExpectAct Without Fear is a rigorous but supportive scene-based class for actors who are ready to challenge themselves\, deepen their craft\, and work consistently over 8 weeks. Because much of the class involves partner work\, preparation and attendance both matter. AttendanceSince this is a scene work class\, weekly attendance is expected and important. Actors will often be working in partnership\, so consistency matters not only for your own progress\, but for your scene partner’s process as well. Each week builds on the work of the previous one\, and regular attendance will help you get the most out of the class. What to Prepare for Week 1Please bring the following to the first class: A 60-90 second monologue from film or televisionThis piece should be prepared and ready to perform in class. A 3-page scene from film or televisionThis scene does not need to be memorized or fully prepared for the first class. It is being brought in as source material for possible assignment and class work. Choosing MaterialActors should choose material that suits their type\, age\, and current level\, while still allowing room for growth. In other words\, the material should feel appropriate and playable\, but it may also include something that stretches you a bit. For the monologue\, choose a piece you feel you can connect to truthfully and perform with confidence. For the scene\, look for material with a strong relationship\, clear objectives\, and enough substance to support ongoing work in class. Scene Selection GuidelinesBecause your scene may be considered for class assignment\, please choose carefully. There is no guarantee that the scene you bring in will be assigned or used in class\, but it may be. For that reason\, we strongly encourage actors to bring in a scene written for two people only. A three-person scene may also be acceptable if the third character has only a very small presence in the scene. Class CultureThis class is designed to challenge actors\, but not overwhelm them. The work asks for courage\, openness\, and commitment\, and actors will be encouraged to stretch beyond familiar habits. At the same time\, guidance will be tailored to the individual\, and actors will be met where they are. The goal is to create a space where actors can take meaningful risks\, do deeper work\, and grow in both freedom and craft. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n David S.
