After a string of low-budget gigs\, his first major film was in “John Carpenter’s The Ward”. Though the project was never a critical or commercial success\, it helped Cook find a minor part in the private detective thriller “The Big Bang” opposite Antonio Banderas. These bookings have led to numerous roles in film\, TV and the web including roles on NCIS L.A.\, Criminal Minds\, Grimm and Funny or Die. Recently\, he worked on Seth MacFarlane’s pilot episode of his latest series\, The Orville. DESCRIPTION:You asked and I deliver! This July Youth workshop with also be for the MIGHTY PARENTS! That’s right! We will spend the first half of class (hour and a half) with the actors doing monologues. Many films\, tv shows and commercials are asking kids to do monologues. Are your kids prepared? Actors should come with TWO 60/90 second monologues to work on. They should be memorized so we can dive right in and film them in class. Then you can bring home some great footage to share with your agents\, directors and for castings. \nAs for the PARENTS\, I will dedicate the second half of class (hour and a half) all to YOU! DESCRIPTION:Join us for Camera 2\, our Intermediate acting for the camera course. August 24 – September 21. Wednesday Nights. \nThis course is for students who have taken Camera 1\, and those with experience in front of the camera. While Camera 1 covered auditioning\, Camera 2 will focusing on increasing your callback rate\, helping you get into more rooms for auditioning\, refining your script analysis technique\, teaching on-camera technique\, and more. \nDuring the 5 weeks\, students will work on challenging scenes\, and difficult corporate copy. Camera 2 will also focus on video-submissions (which are becoming an industry standard). Self-taped videos will be reviewed in class\, and we will give feedback to teach student\, teaching them how to make professional looking videos\, filled with strong acting choices. \nAs always\, we send students home with video footage (on a flash card)\, so they can watch\, learn and grow. \nThe Industry is always changing\, so it’s only natural that the market changes along with it. DESCRIPTION:Due to 4th of July falling on the first Monday\, we will hold our Mighty Monday Youth Workshop on the 18th. This workshop will concentrate on creating a character from the feet up. Actors will come with a memorized monologue and we will build a character from their piece. How do they walk\, talk\, and truly LIVE in the character’s shoes? Angela DiMarco\, Director of MTP’s Youth Division\, will coach the actors one-on-one and do group exercises. Actors should bring a SD HC flash card to class\, so they can bring their footage home. DESCRIPTION:Learn to audition for film and commercials in this fun and informative workshop for actors between 6-18 years. \nRegister at the bottom of this page! \nIn this workshop\, students will participate in mock auditions\, working in front of the camera in a real casting environment. Taught by David and Angela.\nTO BRING: Water\, comfortable clothes\, and a yoga mat (if you have one). \nIn this workshop\, we take actors through a physical and vocal work\, along with games\, to get actors out of their heads and into their bodies. We spend time stretching\, breathing\, and warming up the voice before moving into games other exercises. \nAfter the warmup\, actors work on scenes or monologues. We also encourage participants to bring in material that they are preparing for upcoming auditions. Here is a link to a video of the warmup. \nAfter three workouts this month\, we have found that actors enjoy the approach\, the mood\, and atmosphere created. In contrast to our camera courses\, these workouts and the way into the work takes more of an intuitive and instinctive approach. With monologues we take a more standard approach\, since actors are forced to work “alone\,” so to speak\, but with or scene work exercises\, the focus is on the partner\, the breath\, the experience\, and the moment. Sure\, we might mention things like “what does the character want\,” but this work is designed to get actors completely out of their heads and into their bodies – no thought\, all impulse. \nWe hope you can join us\, and we will continue the workouts into October.
