I went in thinking I needed to brush up on my camera technique; where to look\, how to stay in frame\, how to play to the camera\, etc. What I got was that and more: I’ve deepened my approach to acting\, both for the camera and for the stage. I’ve got a new set of tools I can use to prepare more fully for auditions and roles. And\, most importantly\, I’ve got a new sense of confidence that’s been making a big difference in real-world casting and on-set situations. I got so much out of the first class that I went on to take the next in the series\, and I plan to continue with Mighty Tripod’s ongoing classes and workshops.” – Marty Krouse \n[button link=”https://mightytripod.com/testimonials/” type=”big” color=”green” newwindow=”yes”] Read more testimonials![/button] \n\nThis dynamic course is for actors who are:\nNew to the world of acting.\nLooking to book more auditions.\nNeeding confidence in their work.\nLooking for new tools to add to their craft.\nExperienced in stage acting\, but new to on-camera acting.\nReady to learn more about how to get ahead in the Seattle industry.\nMEET THE INSTRUCTORS: \nDavid has been acting professionally in Seattle since 2000\, and his work is critically acclaimed (David is a three time winner of the Seattle Times Footlight Award for Stellar Acting – 2002\, 2009\, and 2012. SUMMARY:Mighty Tripod Youth Improv Workshop!
DESCRIPTION:It’s time to get on our feet\, use our imagination and CREATE! Improvisation is one of the most important tools for an actor. Many auditions for youth and adult actors will consist of improv. An actor needs to learn how to be comfortable without a script and be able to take quick adjustments and build from there. But how is all that possible and how do you know if you are doing it right? That is why I am here! Over the past 30 years as a working actor\, I have gathered many “wisdom nuggets” that I will share. I will set each actor up to succeed by focusing on THEIR personal strengths. Because each actor is different and it’s those differences that make us MIGHTY! Hope to see you all soon! \nWHAT: IMPROV YOUTH WORKSHOP\nWHERE: Mighty Tripod Acting Studio\nWHEN: Saturday\, August 26th Noon-3pm\nWHAT: Actors should dress in comfortable clothes\, bring water and their HD SD Memory Card\nWHY: Because improv skills are very important for all actors to have in their “actor tool belt” \n

Hogan and Ben Andrews\, participants will learn about their type\, how to brand themselves\, how to use social media to connect with other industry members\, if their headshot *works* well for them\, why online profiles are important\, and more. \nWhat we will do: \n\nPersonal Typing – Exercises to reveal how your essence comes across.\nHeadshot Typing – We type your headshot.\nResume’ Review – We make sure everything looks good.\nCasting Profile Review – If you are on Casting Networks or Casting Frontier\, we will discuss how to maximize your presence.\nYour Brand – We will discuss how you come across on Social Media.\nAnd More! We have a lot to cover\, and will have plenty of time for Q and A.\n\nWhat to Bring: \n\nHeadshot and resume’.\n\nWe will provide a fun\, supportive\, and information packed workshop which will give beginners a jumpstart on their goals\, and more established actors a brush up on their business practices. \nLearn more about Mr. Andrews on his website.

SUMMARY:CD POV Seminar with Nike Imoru\, CSA
DESCRIPTION:WHAT: CD POV seminar.\nAGE: 13 and up. Parents are encouraged to attend with their children. There is a lot of important information for young actors and their guardians.\nWHEN: October 27\, 7-9PM.\nWHERE: Northwest Film Forum. \nPurchase your ticket at the bottom of this page. \nWhat is CD POV? – (Casting Director’s Point of View) is a workshop created by Ms. Imoru\, in which she converts the workshop space into a literal casting studio and takes participants behind the scenes of the casting process. Participants then ‘play’ casting director\, writer(s)\, producer(s)\, camera operator(s)\, and of course\, actor(s).  She recreates both the intense casting environment and shares the unique kinds of “data” that the “end user” (producers) sees in order to make their final choices in the casting process. \nThis Mighty Tripod ProductionsT/Nike Imoru Casting seminar draws on CD POV  and offers a view of the casting process from that unique perspective. \nMore Info (Some of the info below will also be featured in the next Nike Imoru Casting newsletter): \nBetween March 5th and September 25th 2104\, Nike Imoru\, CSA \nReviewed – 3000 on-line actor profiles (1100  for series regular roles) \nObserved  – 2000 audition self tapes; \nAuditioned – 900 hundred actors from Idaho to New York \nConducted – 300 hours of live casting sessions in Seattle and Spokane \nCoached –  88  days on set with lead actors;  and finally \nCast 90% NW actors in Z Nation\, currently SyFy Channel’s top rated original series! \nFor her second seminar collaboration with MTP\, Ms. Imoru will discuss the behind-the-scenes aspect of her work as a casting director who now works in tandem with executive producer and screen writers. \n\nHow DO you get cast in a network tv show in the NW?\nHow does the actor improve their chances of  being seen and being cast?\nWhat are the differences between auditioning for the networks and auditioning for film?\nWhat makes effective  business and marketing tools?\nSelf-taping auditions – some important basic facts?\nShe will offer concrete examples\, from her own casting studio\, of actors who ‘walked into the role’\, and how they did it.\nShe will also talk about coaching both LA and NW lead actors on film and TV sets.\n\nFrom coaching to casting; on stage or screen\, Ms. Imoru has become the region’s one-stop regional ‘actor-expert’. She has spent over a decade in the NW first teaching\, then directing\, coaching and casting some of the region’s finest actors.  An actor herself\, Ms. Imoru’s reach is always global; her passion for the actor\, unstoppable and her unique understanding of the actor-in-process\, unparalleled. \nIn a recent WoW (Words of Wisdom or just some simple words of advice from a casting director) …..Ms Imoru says: \n\n“I didn’t  need Z Nation to prove  that I could cast a network tv show with 90% regional actors\, I already knew that. I just needed a project  to show the rest of the world\, what it would look like when I did!  Currently it looks like  the best selling original series on SyFy.” \n\nWe hope you will join us for this one-of-a-kind event for actors in the NW. \nIf there is not a ticket-buying option at the bottom of this page\, you may purchase a ticket at the door. Cash or check (to Mighty Tripod) only.

SUMMARY:Preparing a Co-Star Role with Sean Cook (6:30pm)
DESCRIPTION:AGE 13+ (actors should have some on-camera experience).\nLEVELS: Intermediate to Advanced.\nCOST: $50.\nWHEN: October 5. 6:30-9:30pm.\nMAP: Below. \nWe are thrilled to host Sean Cook from Los Angeles in this exciting one-day workshop for actors. \nWhen you are preparing your audition or part for a co-star role\, do you find yourself asking the following: \n“How do you create a character when it doesn’t even have a name in the script?” \n“Where do you find the information for your choices from only 6 lines of dialogue?” \n“Is this really all there is?” \nThese are very common questions that actors face when they receive an audition notice for a co-star role. In this course we will discuss the role of the co-star as it relates to story and how that influences choices.  We will work on making PRACTICAL\, SIMPLE\, and HONEST choices and apply them to create a co-star character that is unique\, interesting and REAL. Each client will be taped and work will be reviewed in class. \nJoin us for this unique and exciting opportunity.

SUMMARY:MTP Actor Workout (09/29)
DESCRIPTION:AGE: 13+\nCOST: $20 at the door. Cash preferred. Check to Mighty Tripod.\nWHAT: A physical approach to the work. Taught by David and Angela.\nTO BRING: Water\, comfortable clothes\, and a yoga mat (if you have one). \nIn this workshop\, we take actors through a physical and vocal work\, along with games\, to get actors out of their heads and into their bodies. We spend time stretching\, breathing\, and warming up the voice before moving into games other exercises. \nAfter the warmup\, actors work on scenes or monologues. We also encourage participants to bring in material that they are preparing for upcoming auditions. Here is a link to a video of the warmup. \nAfter three workouts this month\, we have found that actors enjoy the approach\, the mood\, and atmosphere created. In contrast to our camera courses\, these workouts and the way into the work takes more of an intuitive and instinctive approach. With monologues we take a more standard approach\, since actors are forced to work “alone\,” so to speak\, but with or scene work exercises\, the focus is on the partner\, the breath\, the experience\, and the moment. Sure\, we might mention things like “what does the character want\,” but this work is designed to get actors completely out of their heads and into their bodies – no thought\, all impulse. \nWe hope you can join us\, and we will continue the workouts into October.
