SUMMARY:MTP Actor Workout (10/06)
DESCRIPTION:AGE: 13+\nLEVELS: Beginner – Advanced.\nCOST: $20 at the door. Cash preferred. Check to Mighty Tripod.\nWHAT: A physical approach to the work – monologues\, scenes\, and your audition material. Taught by David and Angela.\nTO BRING: Water\, comfortable clothes\, and a yoga mat (if you have one). \nIn this workshop\, we take actors through a physical and vocal work\, along with games\, to get actors out of their heads and into their bodies. We spend time stretching\, breathing\, and warming up the voice before moving into games other exercises. \nAfter the warmup\, actors work on scenes or monologues. We also encourage participants to bring in material that they are preparing for upcoming auditions. Here is a link to a video of the warmup. \nIn contrast to our camera courses\, these workouts and the way into the work takes more of an intuitive and instinctive approach. With monologues we take a more standard approach\, since actors are forced to work “alone\,” so to speak\, but with our scene work exercises\, the focus is on the partner\, the breath\, the experience\, and the moment. Sure\, we might mention things like “what does the character want\,” but this workout is designed to get actors completely out of their heads and into their bodies – no thought\, all impulse. \nPlease register below.

SUMMARY:Preparing a Co-Star Role with Sean Cook (6:30pm)
DESCRIPTION:AGE 13+ (actors should have some on-camera experience).\nLEVELS: Intermediate to Advanced.\nCOST: $50.\nWHEN: October 5. 6:30-9:30pm.\nMAP: Below. \nWe are thrilled to host Sean Cook from Los Angeles in this exciting one-day workshop for actors. \nWhen you are preparing your audition or part for a co-star role\, do you find yourself asking the following: \n“How do you create a character when it doesn’t even have a name in the script?” \n“Where do you find the information for your choices from only 6 lines of dialogue?” \n“Is this really all there is?” \nThese are very common questions that actors face when they receive an audition notice for a co-star role. In this course we will discuss the role of the co-star as it relates to story and how that influences choices.  We will work on making PRACTICAL\, SIMPLE\, and HONEST choices and apply them to create a co-star character that is unique\, interesting and REAL. Each client will be taped and work will be reviewed in class. \nJoin us for this unique and exciting opportunity.

SUMMARY:Camera 1: Foundations
DESCRIPTION:Camera 1 is our foundational course for adult (18 years and up) actors. This course meets on Wednesday nights. Camera 1 offers an extremely well rounded curriculum\, which will give students comfort and confidence in front of the camera\, setting them up for success in any venue (film\, TV\, commercial\, etc.). We also look into the business of the business\, covering things like agents\, headshots\, resumes\, casting directors\, and more. This is a great course for students new to acting in general\, new to on-camera acting\, or those who have a bit of experience but are looking to take their craft deeper. Cameras are used in class\, and students receive access to all footage filmed. \nThis session begins on Wednesday June 4\, 2014. Book your spot at the bottom of this page. \n[divider_line type=”divider_line”] \nWhat the course teaches: \n\nScene Study\nMonologues for the Camera\nAudition Technique\nCommercial Acting Techniques\nPerformance for the Camera\nHow to Get Work in Seattle\n\n[divider_line type=”divider_line”] \n“I’d been working in Seattle for the past four years with some success in both theater and film\, but I knew that there was more to learn that I just wasn’t getting “on the job.” David and Tony’s class came recommended by Jodi Rothfield\, so knew it would be a good place to start. I went in thinking I needed to brush up on my camera technique; where to look\, how to stay in frame\, how to play to the camera\, etc. What I got was that and more: I’ve deepened my approach to acting\, both for the camera and for the stage. I’ve got a new set of tools I can use to prepare more fully for auditions and roles. And\, most importantly\, I’ve got a new sense of confidence that’s been making a big difference in real-world casting and on-set situations. I got so much out of the first class that I went on to take the next in the series\, and I plan to continue with Mighty Tripod’s ongoing classes and workshops.” – Marty Krouse \n[divider_line type=”divider_line”] \nThis dynamic\, 5 week course is for actors who are: \n\nNew to the world of acting.\nExperienced in stage acting\, but new to on-camera acting.\nLooking for new tools to add to their craft.\nReady to learn more about how to get ahead in the Seattle industry.\nLooking to book more auditions.\nNeeding confidence in their work.\n\n[divider_line type=”divider_line”] \nOur class is taught by David S. SUMMARY:Camera 3: Advanced
DESCRIPTION:Camera 3: Advanced Acting for the Camera is a serious course for serious actors. It’s kind of like P90X for acting – it’s designed to kick your butt a little\, and leave you feeling really awesome afterwards. This course is designed to build toward mastery of the craft. In the course we work on scene study\, emotional preparation\, dynamic expression\, and continuity. We will work on scenes from film and television (and perhaps some original material)\, and all scenes will be recorded. At least one scene will be edited together and viewed/critiqued in class. Final scenes can emphasize image\, audio\, and acting\, and will be high enough quality to use as a demo (reel) clip (extra fee for this service – see below). \nPrerequisite: Camera 2 or instructor approval. Interested parties who have not taken Camera 2 will be invited into this course if they have extensive training or experience. \nRegister today at the bottom of this page. \nRough Course Outline: \n\nCourse introductions. Audition coaching and simulation. Students bring in a scene from TV/film.\nFirst scenes are filmed. Students bring in a second scene from TV/film.\nSecond scenes are rehearsed\, students are challenged to go deeper. Second scenes are filmed. Students bring in a third from TV/film.\nSecond scenes are screened and reviewed in class. Third scenes are rehearsed\, students are challenged to go deeper.\nThird scenes are filmed\, with the intention of creating a clip for your reel.\n\nDue to popular demand\, we have built Camera 3 to nurture our students who are working actors\, and further develop our students who are on a pathway for success. In this course\, students will be challenged. Expectations will be high. And breakthroughs will be par for the course. Seattle is becoming more of an industry town\, and the northwest region as a whole offers a lot of great opportunities for actors\, but if the actor does not know how to audition effectively\, and still has room to improve when working on set (and\, honestly\, who doesn’t?)\, then she will not be hired as often as she possibly could. \nThis course is not only designed to get you a piece of footage for your reel\, Camera 3 is a course that working and advanced actors should look to take as often as possible. The course will feel like a gym for the actor – the more effort you put in\, the more results you will get out. We hope to see our students return again and again for this course because we believe that actor training never ends\, and when an actor is not out there working\, then she should be training and staying sharp for that next opportunity. When big opportunities arise\, the actor must meet the challenge. Mighty Tripod Productions can help you face those opportunities with confidence\, conviction\, and craft. \nDavid has been acting professionally in Seattle since 2000\, and his work in theater is critically acclaimed (David is a three time winner of the Seattle Times Footlight Award for Stellar Acting – 2002\, 2009\, and 2012. SUMMARY:Camera 2: Intermediate
DESCRIPTION:Camera 2 is our intermediate course for adult (18 years and up) actors. It is a five week\, intimate course that meets weekly. This session begins on March 03\, 2014. \nSPECIAL NOTE: This session has an irregular schedule. We meet on Monday the 3rd\, and the next four classes (March 12\, 19\, 26\, and April 2) will meet on Wednesday nights.\n \nCameras are used in class\, and students receive access to all footage filmed. Students will need to purchase SDHC 8-16GB memory cards (here is an example) by the second week of class. Video will be captured and put onto your card\, which you can off-load at your home. \nRegister today and book your spot at the bottom of this page. \nWhat the course teaches: \n\nIn Depth Scene Study\nCharacter Work\nImprovisation for Character Building\nImprovisation for Scene Development\nPerformance for the Camera\nWorking in Medium and Close Up Framing\n\n[divider_line type=”divider_line”] \n“My experience in Camera 2 with Mighty Tripod Productions has helped me make amazing progress in front of the camera. I truly believe that focusing more on scene study in this class has helped me to reach a new level of authenticity on film. It was a great blend of receiving acting and technical feedback. The great thing about the teachers is that students get very honest feedback that helps them improve a lot faster. They are also readily available for all questions in and outside of class and are incredibly helpful in providing advice about the industry. I very much appreciated my time in the class and feel that I have improved and learned a great deal. It is most definitely time well spent training in Camera 2.\n~ Rebecca Kim \n[divider_line type=”divider_line”] \n“Working with David and Tony in the Camera 2 class has been instrumental in re-framing how I approach my scene work and character development. They offered challenging alternate choices for given situations that gave me the freedom to continue to discover nuances and build higher stakes throughout the filming process\, take after take after take… I feel that I have left this class with more valuable tools than I anticipated and I’m eager to put them to use in my work moving forward. Also to work with these two again! Incredibly talented actors and directors with a solid eye for refining their students’ trouble spots.”\n~ Andi Norris \n[divider_line type=”divider_line”] \nThis dynamic\, 5 week course is for actors who: \n\nHave taken Camera 1.\nWho have some professional on-camera experience or professional training.\nWant to go deeper in their work.\nWant to learn how to be compelling in front of the camera.\nAre feeling stuck in their craft.\nNeed a confidence boost.\n\nOur class is taught by David S. Hogan and Tony Doupe’\, with assistance from Angela DiMarco. \n[divider_line type=”divider_line”] \nDavid has been acting professionally in Seattle since 2000\, and his work in theater is critically acclaimed (David is a three time winner of the Seattle Times Footlight Award for Stellar Acting – 2002\, 2009\, and 2012.
